Oh Spotify….

Spotify is pretty awesome. But I’m still kind of disappointed though that they handed out free Google Minis to subscribers in the USA, Canada, UK and other places but not in Sweden.

Hey Spotify! I want a one too!!!

I actually bought a Google mini, a pretty grey one… However… back to topic.

Samsung memory manager and Spotify are not good friends. This is old news and most Spotify/Samsung users knows how to fix it. But some doesn’t know so I leave you here a link on how to fix it… But observe, It’s not a good solution and it’s hopefully a temporary solution.

It’s noteworthy though that iPhone users do not have the issues that Samsung users have with Spotify.

At SamMobile you can read the following

Open Settings.

Search and select Optimize battery usage.

Tap the drop-down menu in the upper-left corner, then change the option from Apps not optimized to All.

Scroll down to Spotify, then disable battery optimization by swiping the toggle to Off.

Restart your handset.

The article from SamMobile is from April 29, 2019 and there is still no fix from Spotify

If you can’t find the settings mentioned in the quote, try this

  • Open settings
  • Click on “Device maintenance”
  • Click on Memory icon
  • Press the 3 dots on the top right
  • Select apps not checked
  • If Spotify is not there, add it to the list

…and by the way, if you run into the sill problem that Spotify dies when you press “Kill all applications” at the app switcher. Try locking it. On Android Pie you can do it by holding the Spotify Icon when App switching, it will pop up a menu and you can choose to lock the app.

Cheers!
